Los Angeles Studio Bass Player Officially Launches Bass Tracks Online .com

August 18th, 2008

Established Los Angeles Studio Bass player, Derek Frank, has officially launched the website “BassTracksOnline.com”. Frank created BassTracksOnline.com to provide a way for budget-conscious artists, songwriters, producers, composers, engineers, and any other musicians (professional or hobbyist) to find a studio bass player online, and obtain custom bass tracks for their songs, played by a professional Los Angeles session bass player. Tracks are swapped back and forth between Frank and his clients via the internet; this allows musicians all over the world (who otherwise might not have access to a professional session bass player) to collaborate with him, regardless of their location. No matter where on the planet the client may live, he is now able to hire and work with a studio bass player online.

The concept of “online collaboration” has been growing in popularity recently, since home studio recording has become rather easy and affordable for anyone with a computer. Many of today’s records are also being completed by session musicians recording their tracks in home studios, then sending their tracks back to the producer via the internet. With this growing trend in home recording/online delivery, many websites have popped up as full-service online recording studios, complete with an extensive database of talent that clients can choose from (Derek Frank is also included in some of these professional talent databases). While these sites offer an array of professional music services, many tend be priced beyond the typical consumer’s budget. And it has become quite common to find session drummers online, but not quite as easy to find a pro studio bass player online. BassTracksOnline.com is run solely by Frank, with no “middlemen” or other fees charged, aside from Frank’s per-track session fee. This results in more affordable, yet no less professional, custom bass tracks for any client’s music projects.

Derek Frank has been active as a professional bass player in Los Angeles for the past 11 years. He splits his time almost equally between touring and working in-town on various live and recording projects.  Although he spends quite a bit of time on the road, he always travels with a mobile recording rig, allowing him to record his custom bass tracks virtually anytime, anywhere. Described as a “versatile monster” by some of his musical colleagues, he is fluent and proficient in all styles of music, and has a vast array of different instruments, amplifiers, and effects that can be used when recording his bass tracks. For example: various fretted, fretless, solid-body, and hollow-body 4 and 5-string basses, LOTS of pedals, an array of preamps, DI boxes, and plug-ins, a synth bass rig, etcetera. This insures that he can satisfy all of his clients’ bass needs, regardless of the musical style or sound that that particular client desires. If you are searching for a professional studio bass player online, look no further… BassTracksOnline.com has got you covered.

Although Derek spends a good portion of his musical existence working with musicians in LA as a studio bass player, online is where he collaborates with people in other cities, states, and countries.

Bass Tracks Online

April 8th, 2008

Derek Frank here, I’m a professional bass player living in Los Angeles. A significant portion of my income comes from recording bass tracks on peoples songs, albums, demos, etc.. During my first few years as a session bass player in LA, I would travel around to various recording studios to play on people’s tracks. When someone had a recording project, it was almost always necessary for them to book a pro studio, which was often a rather costly endeavor. The studio, of course, would charge a per-hour rate, and the producer/artist would also have to pay an engineer, and pay whatever studio musicians they chose to hire. This could get very expensive, and this was almost always the way it was done, until a few years ago. Computer-based recording systems, or Digital Audio Workstations, eventually became quite affordable, and more and more people started making their albums at their home studios. I found that I was making less trips to big recording studios, and more trips to peoples homes to record bass tracks. Then about two or three years ago, a friend asked me if I could record bass tracks on a bunch of songs they were writing. On his suggestion, to save time, he sent me MP3s and I laid down the bass at my home studio. When finished with the tracks, I just emailed them back, and it all seemed to work quite well. As I started to spread the word about my ability to record at home and send out my bass tracks online, more people seemed interested in having me play on their projects in this manner. I was doing this mainly for clients in the Los Angeles area, but then I thought “hey, I could be doing this for people all over the world, not just in LA!”. So, I created a website to spread the word about my ability to record custom bass tracks online, and BassTracksOnline.com was born! Bass Tracks Online was created to offer songwriters, composers, producers, bands, engineers, and other music professionals a simple and affordable way to add solid, tasty, REAL custom bass tracks to their songs. These days, project studios are easy to put together, and more and more people are getting into the art of home recording. However, not everyone has the means to get the right bass parts on their projects… i.e., a professional studio bass player. Perhaps you’re a multi-instrumentalist, but your bass skills are a bit too limited for the song you are currently working on… or maybe you don’t personally know any bass players worthy of your music… or it might be that you simply want to get great bass tracks on your project without leaving the confines of your comfy studio, and you don’t feel like hiring someone to come to you, paying their cartage, etc. In any case, bass tracks online provides the perfect solution to these woes of bass-deprived home recording. If you’d like to find out more about how to get custom bass tracks online, click HERE to visit the website. Thanks for stopping by, I hope to collaborate with you soon!
